I'm Jose Nuñez, founder of AFA Foundation.
This is our story.
As a high school senior, I came to a difficult realization: despite years of hard work and earning a football scholarship, my undocumented status made it impossible to accept it. Access to financial aid, employment, and even a driver’s license was out of reach.
The experience made me feel stuck and hopeless. I started questioning my worth. But instead of giving up, I leaned on the support of my family and their unwavering work ethic to keep moving forward.
Sports had always been a constant in my life, a space where identity, language, and barriers faded, and effort spoke louder than anything else. That connection evolved into a passion for fitness and, ultimately, a purpose: to help others build confidence, strength, and a sense of belonging.
Fifteen years later, that purpose became Athletics For All: a gym and community rooted in inclusion and empowerment. With the support of the AFA community, scholarships were created for students at my former high school to support them as they navigated challenges similar to those I once faced.
The AFA Foundation was established to expand that impact. It exists to open doors that were once closed, ensuring that all young people, regardless of background, have access to athletics, education, and the resources they need to succeed.
At its core, the Foundation is driven by a simple belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.

More than just financial support, it serves as a reminder that there are people who believe in me and want to see me succeed. That encouragement has given me the confidence to take on this next chapter with determination and excitement, and I am truly grateful for the support that is helping me turn what once felt like a dream into reality.

Athletics for All (AFA) is more than a gym: it is a fitness, health, and wellness community built on the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue a strong, active life.
That same spirit of support and belonging extends beyond the gym through the AFA Foundation. Powered by the AFA community, the Foundation was created to expand access to opportunities for others. Together, members help make scholarships possible for students navigating financial, systemic, or personal barriers that make their goals feel out of reach.
