Our Impact

Receiving the Athletics for All scholarship has made a significant difference in my transition from high school to the University of Berkeley. Starting college comes with many new challenges, from adjusting to a completely new environment to managing expenses, and this scholarship has eased so much of that stress. It has allowed me to focus on my classes and adapt to campus life without constantly worrying about financial strain. More than just financial support, it serves as a reminder that there are people who believe in me and want to see me succeed. That encouragement has given me the confidence to take on this next chapter with determination and excitement, and I am truly grateful for the support that is helping me turn what once felt like a dream into reality.

Well for one the scholarship came at basically the best time and very much the least that I had expected to receive it from. Nonetheless the scholarship was very helpful for many reasons. The main reason was for school. The scholarship was able to help me pay for stuff like orientation and other needs necessary to firstly be able to attend Cal State Fullerton. It also helped me fix up my car and get parts that were very necessary and with that I can now commute to the school way more safely. I basically invested that scholarship into things that’ll help me get to college and things that will help me even begin college. All I can say is Thank you for helping me out and trusting that I was the right recipient.

Se llega día que voy a 12 grado, y aunque pensarías que todos los jóvenes de mi edad tendrían las mismas oportunidades, experimenté que no es así. Cuando llegó el tiempo de aplicar para las becas/ Universidades tenía una desventaja que no solo yo tenía- una minoría de nosotros hijos de padres inmigrantes también. Y aunque traté mi mejor esfuerzo, tuve que pedir ayuda y asistir a talleres de cómo llevar tu aplicación para tus becas y tu Universidad. Se llegó el día que me dijieron que alguien me había dado una beca y estaba muy feliz y agradecido por ella sin saber que la beca me la había dado AFA y el Creador José Núñez, por primera ocasión me sentí visto por primera vez tenía una ventaja ser hijo de padres inmigrantes, y eso me hizo sentir más orgulloso de mis raíces y súper agradecido por AFA y todas las personas que hicieron esto posible y gracias a eso me será más fácil comprar mis libros para empezar una nueva etapa en el colegio de Citrus y los gastos que vaya teniendo durante mis primeros meses de colegio.
